Instrumental Laboratory at Metal Power Private Limited

Alongside our world-class Classical (Wet) Chemistry Laboratory, MPPL also operates an equally capable Instrumental Laboratory. This lab not only generates complementary analytical values but also handles the analysis of trace concentrations that can be difficult to detect using classical methods. The Instrumental Lab is equipped with advanced environment, temperature, and condition monitoring systems, ensuring precision in every analysis.

Our laboratory maintains a comprehensive inventory of Specpure (Liquid CRM) of all elements listed in our accredited scope.

Analytical Instruments in this section are:

Electrochemical Analyzer

CS Simultaneous Analyzer (LECO)

Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS)

Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES)

Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometer (ICP).

Electrochemical Analyzer

The electrochemical analyzer is primarily used for Gravimetric estimation of Cu. It deposits Copper electrolytically on a pre-weighed Pt Cathode. The process continues until all Copper is deposited, and the blue hue of Cu fades completely.

CS Simultaneous analyzer:

In the CS Simultaneous Analyzer, samples are mixed with a flux to decrease fusion temperature and combusted in the presence of Oxygen. During combustion, Carbon and Sulphur in the sample are oxidized to form CO2 and SO2, respectively. The gases pass through a sample cell where an IR Detector measures the loss in absorption, providing highly precise results.

Atomic Absorption Spectrometer AAS:

Our AAS system uses a line source to measure analyte concentration. Samples are dissolved and aspirated as a fine mist in the flame of calibrated equipment. Light from the Hollow Cathode Lamp (HCL) excites elements in the sample, with the absorbed energy serving as the measure of the analytical concentration.

ICP-OES

The Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer is ideal for ultra-trace elemental analysis across various sample types. The sample is aspirated through Argon plasma, which excites it to higher energy levels. The energy released as the sample returns to lower energy levels is analyzed to determine elemental concentrations, with detection limits down to ppb levels.

Arc/Spark Optical Emission spectrometer (OES):

The lab is equipped with Spark Optical Emission spectrometer models from Metal Power. These instruments, with nearly zero downtime, undergo regular calibration and standardization, ensuring accuracy in Arc/Spark Optical Emission Spectrometer Testing. OES operates by sparking metal samples in Argon plasma, exciting electrons to higher energy levels. When these electrons return to the ground state, the emitted energy is measured at specific wavelengths to determine individual elemental concentrations.
